The Challenge

The brief was to create a striking crime thriller cover centred around flowers, while capturing the darker world of a ruthless crime family and a woman haunted by her past.

The Solution

I used the beauty and symbolism of flowers as a visual counterpoint to the story’s darker themes. The floral imagery was treated in a more atmospheric and unsettling way, combining rich colour, texture and strong typography to create a cover that feels both beautiful and slightly haunting.

The Result

The finished cover creates an intriguing tension between beauty and menace, immediately drawing the reader in while signalling the darker nature of the story. The floral motif gives Nan’s Flowers a distinctive visual identity within the crime genre, creating a cover that feels atmospheric, contemporary and memorable.
