The Challenge
The challenge was to create a cover for a financial wellbeing book aimed at Gen Z and millennial women, while avoiding the traditional, corporate look often associated with personal finance. The design needed to communicate money, confidence and empowerment, while feeling approachable, contemporary and lifestyle-focused. It also needed to appeal to an audience accustomed to bold, instantly recognisable visuals across social media and digital platforms.
The Solution
I developed a bold, photographic concept centred around a bright red purse held against a soft pink background. The purse becomes the main visual device, immediately communicating the subject of money while giving the cover a strong, memorable focal point.
The contrasting pink, red and black palette creates a confident, feminine aesthetic without becoming overly decorative. Large, clean typography gives MONEY TALKS a strong editorial presence, while the simple composition and generous negative space keep the design contemporary and accessible.
The result balances financial subject matter with lifestyle and wellbeing, reflecting the book's feminist, empowering and relatable tone.
The Result
The final cover creates a distinctive, commercially appealing identity that feels more like a modern lifestyle title than a traditional finance book.
The design successfully positions Money Talks as confident, approachable and empowering, helping make a potentially intimidating subject feel relevant and accessible to a younger female audience.
